About

The A/G Scoreboard is an independent public-data bank monitoring system built from FDIC Call Report data. It separates structural viability (G) from performed-health divergence (MHI) so banks that look similar on conventional surface metrics can be distinguished by underlying condition and by how much surface performance exceeds that condition. The system is not presented as a deterministic failure predictor or a replacement for supervisory models. Its value is as a structural qualification layer for ranking and monitoring. The public package includes a live dashboard, a technical brief, and supporting validation documents covering failed-bank anchoring, walk-forward external validation, benchmark comparison, aggregation-operator analysis, and threshold-freeze hardening.

Validation panel

Reading the validation layer. Internal tests (same-G-band lift, decile monotonicity, persistence escalation) use the system's own tier transitions as the outcome variable; they are coherence checks, not external-failure prediction. On the external failed-bank anchor and walk-forward distress targets, G alone is the dominant external predictor and the same-band lift inverts — within a weak-G band, high-MHI banks are less likely to fail externally than low-MHI banks. G carries the main external failure signal; MHI is better read as a divergence and internal tier-coherence diagnostic, not as a replacement for G on external failure prediction. See Walk-Forward External Validation §6–9 for the full result.
